Our Story...
We designed drumdots to not only reduce the over-ring, but to do it without taking the "Life" out of your drums. Being musicians ourselves, with backgrounds in product design engineering, and material science we set out to develop a product that addressed all of the issues we experienced with other drum dampers. After listening to many drummers, drumtechs and recording engineers, after several years of testing and analysis both live and in the lab we created drumdots....
How Do They WORK? ...
drumdots stick without being "sticky"... (they adhere to the drumhead but are not sticky)   This means that the initial strike vibration is allowed to reach the rim and vibrate through the shell as intended . Unlike other "sticky" dampers and tape which creates a "dead-spot" in the drumhead muting the tone, drumdots allow the head to breathe preserving the natural tone of the drum.  Then... as the initial strike vibrations slow down, the drumdot "chokes" the over-ring.  The closer to the center you place the drumdot, the MORE over-ring will be eliminated.  You have to try it to hear the difference between muting to reduce the ring,  and controlling the ring but keeping the tone  !!
