$ 1584

Availability: 23 in stock
  • Date of Creation: Circa 1987
  • Color: Pencil
  • Type of Advertising: Original Production Art
  • Condition: This artwork is signed by Bernie Wrightson in the lower right and is in great mildly aged condition. However, as large as the art is, Bernie used a piece of artist’s tape (front and back) to hold two separate pages together. This must be some kind of archival artists tape, as after 35 years it has not yellowed or discolored and the adhesive has not loosened or cracked in the slightest. Please look closely at the drawing and close-ups where I have tried to capture the tape as best I could.

    Description

    Up for auction/sale is a wonderfully penciled architectural concept drawing of a Wrightson Frankentein influenced gated castle entrance, complete with drawbridge, towers, and arrow loop, and was used as production art for the General Mills line of cereals, Frankenberry, Count Chocula, Boo-Berry, and Yummy Mummy.
    See the "For Reference Only" images to see a snapshot of the artwork designed model in the tv commercial along with a copy of the original "Real Monster Mysteries" series artwork, which was also done by Bernie Wrightson (not a part of this transaction).
    In 1987, Jim Riche of Caesar Video was contracted by General Mills to direct a commercial spot and Jim chose Bernie Wrightson to provide several production design drawings to create miniature sets for the open and close donuts of the 30 second spots.
    This artwork is signed by Bernie Wrightson in the lower right and is in great mildly aged/lightly wavy condition.
    The overall art paper measurements are roughly 20 1/4" T x 17"” W, the image area being about 17” T x 15 1/2” W
    I am a long time Bernie Wrightson fan and along with his knack for the macabre, he also mastered architectural stylings but these types of works by Bernie are few and far between…
    This will be packaged between multiple layers of cardboard and mat board to best ensure the artwork arrives as pictured and described.
