This auction is for an original 1961 concert flyer broadside advertising the November 19, 1961, Jimmy Dean Show, with PATSY CLINE receiving second billing.
This show was just 5 months after Cline's head-on collision on Old Hickory Boulevard in Nashville. The impact threw Cline into the windshield, nearly killing her. Cline spent a month in the hospital, suffering from a jagged cut across her forehead that required stitches, a broken wrist, and a dislocated hip. Six weeks later, she returned to the road on crutches.
Show was at the KRNT THEATER in Des Moines, Iowa. The flyer is printed on orange paper, and was originally from the collection of Iowa's legendary Country Music promoter Smokey Smith, (who promoted this concert.) Also appearing that night: Leroy Van Dyke, BILLY GRAMMER, the Louvin Bros, and BOBBY LORD.
Flyer measures 5 7/8" 11 1/4" and displays beautifully. It is in MINT condition, with no rips, tears, folds, creases, holes, tape residue, or repairs.
