    Description

An authentic VG example of 1822 N-13 R5. A variety not known to Howard Newcomb. Discovered after he wrote his book in 1940. The Starr sale in 1984 had one example in fine and it brought a hefty price result. The obverse is the same for N-7, N-8, N-12, N-13, and N-14. the reverse is the same die as N-11. Always seems to be weak on the left side of the reverse, perhaps explaining its rarity.
